The Horsham Area Council for Voluntary Service is a local registered charity funded by West Sussex County Council, Horsham  District  Council and the West Sussex PCT with  the following mission statement:

 

 

 

"The Horsham Area Council for Voluntary Service exists to improve the quality and range of community services by supporting local voluntary action within the Horsham Area and by facilitating links between the voluntary and statutory agencies and the business community"

 

 

 

 

In support of this, HACVS

To assist in these aims, the HACVS

following services:

 

SUPPORT

 

· Support for local groups towards Independence

· Networking and partnership opportunities

· Setting up budgets and financial management systems

· Operational Health Check

 

CONSULTATION/PROMOTION

 

We bring together representatives of groups and  individuals  covering  a  wide  range of community/voluntary issues for consultation and development work aimed at meeting particular needs as they are identified.   We  promote community and voluntary activity, through the organisation of events and dissemination of information.

 

 INFORMATION

 

· Bi-monthly Newsletter with information about training, funding, local and national issues affecting the voluntary sector

· Bulletins on topical issues

· e-bulletins for fast dissemination of Information

· Website

· Database of voluntary groups and services

· Themed community networking meetings facilitating the exchange of information

· Talks and seminars on current topics

· Through various consultation groups and by face to face contact.

 

 ADVICE

 

· Setting up a new group

· Constitutions

· Search for funding sources using leading grant and funding software

· Guidance on grant application forms

· Charity registration

· Data protection registration

· Obtaining Quality Accreditation

 

 RESOURCES

 

· Visual aid equipment for loan e.g. Display boards, flip charts, laptops

· Hot-desk facility with high specification PC and software, printing facilities, scanning, laminating, and admin support

 TRAINING

 

· Tailored courses to address identified needs and wishes

· Awareness sessions on computing and use of the internet.

· Entry level courses in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, DTP etc.

LIASON/REPRESENTATION

 

Liaison with all statutory bodies, voluntary  agencies and community groups, through the committees, working groups and forums within which we will seek to represent the interests and aspirations of the voluntary sector.
