Abbeyfield Horsham Society

 

Two very sheltered housing schemes in Horsham for 16 residents where people retain their independence in bed-sitting rooms, some with en-suite facilities. Two meals a day provided by resident housekeeper. Residential charges kept low. Respite care and holiday breaks available. Many other schemes nationally for people over retirement age. Single accommodation only.

Cowfold Welcome Club 01403 864405 Fortnightly luncheon club for the over 60's. 10.30am - 3.30pm, outings etc.
The Evergreen Club 01403 262459 Social/Drop in Club for the over 55's. Meet every 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Roffey Institute between 2.00-4.00pm.
Help at Home Scheme 01903 879916 This scheme, which initially covers the Steyning and Horsham Town area, provides domestic help for older people, such as hoovering, dusting, washing floors, laundry, ironing, changing bed clothes, shopping and pension collection. It is aimed at people aged 60 and over whose personal care needs are met by informal carers, who do not have the ability to undertake practical tasks as well.

Each persona will be entitled to a maximum of 2 hours help a week. Visits are between the hours of 9am - 5.30pm. A small subsidised charge is made, which is reduced for those on income support.

Can cater for people with physical and sensory disabilities and those with mild to moderate communication and learning difficulties.

Help the Aged 01293 491899 Help the Aged exists to ensure that the rights of older people everywhere are secured and upheld and to give support to community groups through advice, information, training and grants. Contact: Brian Wyld
Horsham District Age Concern 01403 260560 At the Lavinia House Day Centre. Open Mon - Fri 9am - 4pm. Different activities each day - leaflet available. Hairdresser two days per week. Two course lunch provided for £1.60 for members. Visiting service now available. New members welcome - 60 years of age and over. Come and join us and make new friends.
Pulborough Volunteer Visiting Scheme 01798 812104 Provides trained volunteers to visit people who, for whatever reason, are lonely or housebound. Also offers a break to carers (1-2 hours), providing them with the opportunity to go out knowing that the person they care for is left in safe hands. Contact: Mrs Angela Symes
