Steyning & Ashurst Conservation Volunteers

Since 1966, the
Steyning and Ashurst Conservation Volunteers have worked with the
BCTV, West Sussex County Council, The Environment Agency, Sussex
Downs Conservation Board and landowners. A great variety of work has
been done on the Downs and in the Low Weald areas. The SACV is a
voluntary group and has to apply for grants and sponsorship to
purchase tools and pay for training and insurance etc. The group is
fully insured and affiliated to the BCTV. |

The Wey & Arun Canal Trust |

The Trust's aim is to
restore the Wey & Arun Canal for leisure use. The canal links the
River Wey at Shalford (near Guildford ) with the River Arun at
Pallingham (near Pulborough). It forms part of the only inland
waterway route between London and the south coast. A section of some
3 miles at Loxwood , Sussex , is fully restored and boat trips
operate throughout the Summer. The Trust is almost entirely a
volunteer organisation
