Steyning & Ashurst Conservation Volunteers 01903 813938 Since 1966, the Steyning and Ashurst Conservation Volunteers have worked with the BCTV, West Sussex County Council, The Environment Agency, Sussex Downs Conservation Board and landowners. A great variety of work has been done on the Downs and in the Low Weald areas. The SACV is a voluntary group and has to apply for grants and sponsorship to purchase tools and pay for training and insurance etc. The group is fully insured and affiliated to the BCTV.
The Wey & Arun Canal Trust 01403 752403 The Trust's aim is to restore the Wey & Arun Canal for leisure use. The canal links the River Wey at Shalford (near Guildford ) with the River Arun at Pallingham (near Pulborough). It forms part of the only inland waterway route between London and the south coast. A section of some 3 miles at Loxwood , Sussex , is fully restored and boat trips operate throughout the Summer. The Trust is almost entirely a volunteer organisation
The Wey & Arun Canal Trust's website is at www.weyandarun.co.uk.
